ICS (Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers) Membership Exams - PQE

Professional Qualifying Exams (PQE) is the route to membership of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers – ICS

You need to pass exams in 7 subjects in order to complete PQE.

• Year 1: You must attempt minimum of 2 exams (please note that this is new for April 2011 exams – students starting Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) PQE before April 2011 were required to take min 3), including Shipping Business.

Candidates must pass all Group 1 subjects plus 3 others from Group 2/3. There are 3 options for choosing which subjects to take from Group 2 and 3:

• Option A – 2 from Group 2 and 1 from Group 3
• Option B – 3 from Group 2
• Option C – 1 from Group 2 and 2 from Group 3

• Legal Principles in Shipping Business
• Economics of Sea Transport and International Trade
• Shipping Business

Group 2:

• Ship Sale and Purchase
• Port Agency
• Dry Cargo Chartering
• Ship Operations and Management
• Tanker Chartering
• Liner Trades
• Logistics and Multi Modal Transport
• Port and Terminal Management
• Offshore Support Industry

Group 3:

• Shipping Law
• Marine Insurance
• Finance for Shipping

Exemptions:

• You may apply for exemptions if you have relevant professional or educational qualifications: these MUST be validated by ICS. Please contact them directly to see if you qualify.
